About H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber

H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber is the COP28 President, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE Special Envoy for Climate, Group MD and CEO of ADNOC, and Chairman of Masdar.

H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber has attained a Doctorate of Philosophy in Business and Economics from Coventry University. He holds a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Al Jaber served as the Chairman of Abu Dhabi (AD) Ports Group for around 6 years, which is a transportation, logistics, supply chain, and storage management company. For around 5 years he was a Chairman of the National Media Council, it is an independent federal authority in the United Arab Emirates that works towards the development of an integrated national media sector. He is serving as a Chairman of Masdar, – a renewable energy semiconductor manufacturing company in Abu Dhabi. In 2020, Dr Al Jaber was appointed Chairman of the Emirates Development Bank, a partner in providing financial services for the sustainable economic and social development of the UAE

Dr. Al Jaber role in ADNOC Group

In the year 2016, Dr. Al Jaber was appointed as a Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of ADNOC Group. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Group is one of the world’s leading producers of energy and works for Abu Dhabi’s growth and diversification. As an MD and GCEO, he has led the comprehensive transformation at the direction of the UAE leadership. He has started a program of increased efficiency, strengthened the overall performance of the company along with fostering a more commercial mindset at ADNOC. Dr. Al Jaber took the initiative to enter ADNOC into the global market for the first time and also completed the first IPO of an ADNOC business. He was the mastermind behind the strategy of attracting significant FDI from strategic and private equity investors to stimulate smart growth across ADNOC’s upstream, midstream, and downstream value chains. Hence, he initiated several strategic approaches that led growth of the company.

Dr Al Jaber has led a digital transformation at the company with the foresightedness of driving ADNOC towards a more profitable upstream, valuable downstream, and sustainable and economic gas supply by 2030. He has focused on adopting advanced technologies like Big Data, Artificial intelligence, and Blockchain to make ADNOC a key contributor to the UAE’s economy and top energy producer.

Dr Al Jaber was in a UAE cabinet and from 2013 to 2020 served as a Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates. He was responsible for developing, overseeing, and enhancing geopolitical, social, and economic partnerships with several nations. Since 2020 he has been serving as a UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the UAE’s special envoy for climate. He is responsible for making a strategic effort for the further expansion of industrial development and promoting the in-country values of the UAE by leveraging technology as a tool to enter the Fourth Industrial Age.

Awards and Achievements

H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber has received several awards for his immense contribution to the country and visionary leadership qualities. He was awarded the United Nations flagship award “Champion of the Earth” in 2012, given to outstanding visionaries and leaders in policy, science, and entrepreneurship. He received a lifetime achievement award in the year 2019, from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for his contributions to energy security, building bridges to emerging Asian economies, and reshaping traditional energy business models. Dr. Al Jaber was appointed as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2013. he was named Energy Executive of the Year in 2021 by Energy Intelligence. Hence, Dr. Al Jaber appears to be an inspiring personality to everyone.
