Jason Eisen: Founder and CEO
Jason Eisen is a serial entrepreneur, speaker, author, inventor, and recovering consultant. Jason founded UTU Technologies in the year 2017 and currently serves as CEO. He has vast experience as a founder of multiple companies in Africa including MARAOJA Transport, BitLipa, and UTU Technologies.
Prior to the start of his entrepreneurial journey, Jason spent 10 years in Washington DC. He attended The American University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Spanish/Latin American Studies, with a minor in Applied Physics. Jason is a co-author of “The Price of Freedom,” which is a collection of oral histories from the civil rights movement.
Jason spent 7 years as a consultant for USAID, World Bank, and others. Later he worked as a Recruitment Assistant, Business Development Associate, and Relief & Reconstruction Associate at International Resource Group. There is conducted desktop and in-country program design research, assisted in the development of corporate teaming strategies, and contributed to the development of competitive proposals. He was a Senior Associate at International Resource Groups and an Independent Consultant at BroderickHaight Consulting.
Journey of Highs and Lows
In the year 2013, Jason moved to Kenya and founded MARAMOJA Transport and was a Board Chair of it. MARAMOJA Transport is the first ride-hailing app in Africa and a Pan-African trust-powered mobility application scaling across the continent through a network of franchises. In the process of building MARAMOJA, he realized that he was solving the wrong problem. The problem was not only about getting a taxi but it was about getting a taxi with a trusted driver. Then his team was focused on building better models of digital trust. Many companies from other industries like babysitting, freelancing, home services, and many others were interested in these solutions.
Apart from working with MARAMOJA Transport, Jason had a keen interest in
providing digital solutions for different problems. In the year 2018, he co-founded BitLipa which provides comprehensive digital solutions with a mission to simplify payments in Africa. He also worked as an Instigator with different companies including ArtSTORM.nft, SafariDAO, and Africa Defi Alliance.
Present online trust systems cannot be trusted always and are also outdated. Unknown ratings, trust scores, and Anonymous ratings are often manipulated and do not reflect the way we just in the real world. This results in decreased purchases, trust issues, harm to reputation, and low business growth. With the vision to solve this problem, Jason Eisen founded UTU Technologies in the year 2017 and has its headquarters located in Nairobi, Kenya.
