Elena Malmefeldt, Founder, Wellness-Screening
My entrepreneurial journey has been defined by curiosity, adaptability, and a relentless drive to challenge the status quo. And this mind-set has helped me to push the envelope in my career, empowering me to wear multiple hats with equal excellence and passion. Today, I am a certified Naturopath, expert in clinical wellness and nutrition physiology and passionate biohacker, speaker, educator, and curious researcher.
From Media to Wellness: A Vision for Change
I began my career in television broadcasting, working as part of the pioneering team that built Kanal 5 in Sweden from the ground up. Watching it grow from a small, ambitious project to a major media house was an invaluable lesson in entrepreneurship, innovation, and long-term vision.
But even as I thrived in media, something was missing. I wanted to create something of my own—something deeply connected to my personal passion for health and human longevity.
That passion led me to biomedical sciences, nutrition therapy, lifestyle coaching, food as medicine, and environmental science. I became fascinated by how external factors—diet, toxins, stress, and movement—shape human health on a fundamental level.
While conventional medicine has an essential role in healthcare, its primary focus is on diagnosing and treating diseases once they have already developed. I was drawn to a different question:
What if we could intervene sooner—long before disease manifests—by tracking the body’s early physiological changes?
The Chronic Disease Epidemic: The Acceleration of Aging
When I first entered the health field over two decades ago, chronic illnesses were already on the rise. Today, they have reached an unprecedented crisis—particularly in the Western world, where ultra-processed foods, high sugar intake, environmental toxins, and sedentary lifestyles have reshaped public health in ways we could not have imagined just a few generations ago.
Perhaps the most striking example is Type 2 diabetes. Once classified as “adult-onset diabetes,” it was almost exclusively seen in older populations. But as Western dietary habits and lifestyle trends spread globally, we started seeing younger and younger individuals—even children—developing what was once considered a disease of aging.
The name had to change. Today, we simply call it Type 2 diabetes because age is no longer the defining risk factor—lifestyle is.
And this is not an isolated case. Across the board, chronic diseases that used to emerge in later life—metabolic disorders, cardiovascular dysfunction, neurodegenerative conditions, and autoimmune diseases—are now appearing decades earlier.
But what’s even more concerning is that these conditions don’t just impact lifespan—they accelerate biological aging, leading to a dramatic decline in quality of life. This is where we need to redefine the conversation around health.
For too long, we have measured success by lifespan—the number of years a person lives. But what really matters is health span—the number of years a person remains healthy, functional, and free from chronic disease.
In the Western world, lifespan has increased, but health span has not kept pace. Today, it’s common for people to spend the last 10-20 years of their lives in a state of physical decline, dependent on medication and medical intervention.
The goal of preventive and integrative health is not just to extend life—it’s to extend health. To slow biological aging, optimize well-being, and maintain vitality for as many years as possible.
This is why I was drawn to preventive and integrative health—not as an alternative to conventional medicine but as a necessary evolution of our approach to human well-being.
Bridging the Gap: A New Way to Measure Health & Aging
I realized early on that we were missing critical opportunities to address health deterioration before it reached the point of diagnosis. The human body doesn’t suddenly “break” overnight—disease is a long, slow process, sometimes taking decades to develop.
But how do we track and measure this process? How can we detect early physiological shifts that signal dysfunction—before disease manifests? This was the critical gap in healthcare that I wanted to address.
That’s when I discovered a groundbreaking bioelectrical assessment technology—an early version of Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) screening that measured millivolt-based physiological data.
At the time, it was a revolutionary concept—the ability to gain real-time insights into physiological imbalances long before they reached the threshold of clinical disease.
Fast forward to today, and this innovation has evolved into Wellness-Screening—a non-invasive, mobile, and highly scalable screening system that, in just 7 minutes, delivers 30 scientifically validated biomarkers.
Working alongside engineers and software developers, we integrated multiple cutting-edge measurement technologies into a single system:
Blood pressure analysis, Bioimpedance for body composition, Galvanic Skin Response for autonomic nervous system balance, Sudomotor testing for microcirculation & neuropathy. Oximetry for oxygen saturation & HRV (time-domain & frequency analysis) and Photoplethysmography for vascular health
To simplify implementation and make the insights actionable, I developed a structured, five-domain report:
- Physical Fitness
- Metabolic Health
- Cardiovascular Health (including Endothelial Dysfunction Risk Chart)
- Stress & Mental Health
- Immune Health
This allows health professionals, wellness experts, and individuals to track trends, refine interventions, and personalize health strategies with precision. This system represents a new era in Well-Tech, bringing personalized, data-driven insights into health, longevity, and human performance optimization.
From Clinical Practice to Global Expansion
But let us go back in time. After completing my studies, I co-founded an integrative health clinic in Stockholm, working alongside medical doctors, functional medicine practitioners, and wellness experts.
This was one of Sweden’s first multidisciplinary wellness clinics, gaining recognition for its pioneering approach to bridging the gap between conventional and holistic health models.
In parallel, I was invited to participate in a governmental think tank at the Swedish Parliament, where we explored new models for integrative healthcare collaboration.
To take this vision further, I co-developed a Digital Health Account—a system that placed the individual at the center of their healthcare journey, facilitating real-time collaboration between medical professionals, nutritionists, and wellness practitioners.
The idea was well-received by corporate healthcare providers, but unreliable IT developers hindered its success. In entrepreneurship, setbacks are inevitable—but so is adaptation.
Scaling Digital Health: From 30,000 Screenings to Global Implementation
With over 30,000 health screenings conducted, I shifted my focus to a B2B model, supplying digital health screening technology to:Functional medicine practitioners & lifestyle coaches
Biohackers & performance optimization experts, Luxury wellness resorts & spas
Preventive health professionals & integrative clinics.
Real-Time Biohacking & Personalized Health Optimization
What excites me most is the ability to track real-time physiological changes in response to interventions like:
✔ Infrared therapy
✔ Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
✔ PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy)
✔ Nutritional & lifestyle interventions
To support professionals using this technology, I developed a comprehensive handbook that connects specific health markers with evidence-based treatment strategies—turning data into actionable insights.
The Future of Integrative & Preventive Digital Health
Today, Wellness-Screening is no longer just an idea—it is transforming the way health is measured and optimized worldwide. From high-end wellness resorts to cutting-edge integrative health clinics, this technology is being embraced as a powerful tool for preventive and personalized healthcare.
Some of the world’s most renowned wellness destinations have already integrated this data-driven health assessment into their offerings. At Six Senses, Four Seasons, Royal Mansour and Anantara, it is being used to elevate guest experiences, allowing visitors to gain deep insights into their physiological health within minutes and helping individuals take proactive steps toward longevity and vitality.
Even in the luxury cruise industry, brands like Viking Cruises have recognized the value of integrating this technology into their onboard wellness services, making preventive health more accessible than ever—even at sea.
For these brands, this technology is far more than just an assessment—it has become a strategic tool that redefines the wellness experience. By integrating real-time health insights, it enables a new level of personalized treatments, allowing wellness practitioners to tailor recommendations based on objective data rather than assumptions.
Beyond personalization, it is also enhancing the overall guest experience, empowering individuals to better understand their bodies and make more informed decisions about their health. The ability to track physiological responses over time has brought an entirely new dimension to wellness programs, offering guests not just relaxation, but a clear pathway toward long-term vitality and resilience.
At the same time, this approach is revolutionizing the way wellness interventions are validated. With measurable data supporting treatment outcomes, health and wellness professionals can now bridge the gap between holistic practices and scientific validation, demonstrating tangible results in ways that were previously difficult to quantify.
Adaptability: The Key to the Future of Health & Entrepreneurship
Every health technology has limitations, including ultrasound, MRIs, and laboratory diagnostics—the challenge is not to seek perfection but to get as close to biological truth as possible.
Wellness-Screening doesn’t diagnose diseases—it tracks physiological patterns, allowing individuals to identify imbalances, adjust lifestyle factors, and actively participate in their own longevity and well-being.
Now, I find myself at an exciting crossroads. With exclusive global rights to this technology, the next phase involves scaling, expanding, and evolving digital preventive care.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that success is not about holding on to rigid models—it’s about adaptability.
Just as the human heart constantly adapts its rhythm to meet the body’s ever-changing physiological demands, the world of entrepreneurship and health innovation requires the same flexibility—adjusting, evolving, and responding in real time.
This is the beauty of what we do: we are not just measuring data—we are shaping the future of preventive health.
And in a world where technology is changing faster than ever, the ability to pivot, innovate, and integrate digital solutions into personalized care is what will define the next era of health and longevity.
The future is not just about living longer—it’s about living better. And we now have the tools to make that a reality.
We are not just measuring data—we are revolutionizing the way we approach health, integrating the best of science, wellness, and digital innovation.
The future isn’t just about living longer—it’s about living smarter, integrating knowledge, and taking control of our health like never before.
“We are not just tracking health—we are shaping the future of well-being. This journey is about combining the best of science, technology, and holistic wisdom to empower people to thrive,” concludes Elena Malmefeldt.
