Corrina Holzner, Founder, Beamdream Breathworks
When a woman brings new life into the world, she transforms in ways few truly understand. The joy of motherhood can feel clouded by exhaustion, isolation, and the weight of postpartum struggles. Amid the sleepless nights and waves of doubt, even a small change, a fresh outlook or a circle of support, can bring comfort and hope. Fueled by resilience, some women channel their experiences into helping others, launching initiatives that shed light on postpartum struggles. It’s a journey toward healing, with the power to uplift countless others—a truth that Corrina Holzner, founder of Beamdream Breathworks, knows well.
In our conversation, we uncovered how an unexpected evening in 2019 changed the direction of her life. After the birth of her son, Corrina felt adrift. Her once-successful career as a self-employed PR consultant now felt trivial, lacking the depth she was craving. At a friend’s suggestion, she attended her first breathwork class, where she encountered an overwhelming transformation. Midway through, a powerful inner voice declared, “Live wildly!”—a call she couldn’t ignore. This moment led her to complete her first breathwork teacher training, and in 2020, she founded Beamdream Breathworks.
From the start, Corrina envisioned Beamdream Breathworks as more than a solo endeavor; she sought to create a meaningful community of healing and growth. Today, Beamdream Breathworks represents her commitment to helping others unlock their potential through breathwork, a journey that has brought her life purpose, clarity, and the chance to live more boldly.
A Path to True Transformation
Breathwork has never been more essential than it is now. The COVID-19 pandemic brought new awareness to the importance of breath, and today’s high-stress, fast-paced world puts tremendous strain on our nervous systems. “Our nervous systems were designed for life in nature and they can’t distinguish between sitting at a desk and fleeing from a predator,” explains Corrina. Many seek relief in consumption to fill the emptiness, but this often only masks issues like burnout and autoimmune conditions.
While modern breathwork began within the 1960s New Age movement, it gained mainstream traction in the 2000s through pioneers like Wim Hof. Now, breathwork techniques such as Beambreath®—Beamdream’s own Conscious Connected Breathing method—help people reclaim their inner strength and emotional connection. Holzner believes that a society that embraces breathwork is a society poised for genuine transformation.
Breaking Language Barriers in Breathwork
Establishing Beamdream Breathworks as a leader in the German-speaking wellness community presented unique challenges, particularly around language. When Corrina Holzner completed her first teacher training, breathwork was predominantly English-speaking. Even in Germany, sessions were held in English to accommodate an international audience. Yet, recognizing that many German-speaking individuals felt more at ease engaging in breathwork in their native language, she saw an untapped potential and decided to offer sessions in German.
Creating sessions that captured the emotional depth of English practices was initially difficult. German, less fluid than English, posed a unique challenge. Starting from scratch, Holzner had no clients or existing community but brought courage and a clear vision from her background in public relations. Step by step, she built Beamdream Breathworks, drawing on her experiences with industry visionaries. Through setbacks and persistence, Holzner turned her language-centred approach into a successful business, refusing to let challenges dictate her path.
Bridging Science and Spirit through Breathwork
Beamdream Breathworks stands at the intersection of modern science and ancient wisdom, carefully balancing both aspects in its approach. Founder Corrina Holzner emphasises that breathwork, though sometimes associated with spirituality, is deeply rooted in measurable, physical processes. “You don’t need to believe in the effects of breathwork for them to be felt; there’s no placebo effect,” she explains, emphasising that even sceptics experience the undeniable impact.
Holzner intentionally distances Beamdream Breathworks from esoteric approaches, focusing on a solid scientific foundation to help clients fully understand and safely explore transformative breathwork sessions. She explains that, for instance, knowing why their hands might cramp during a session reduces fear, allowing clients to navigate the experience more easily.
Recent studies reveal that breathwork activates parts of the brain similar to those affected by psychedelics, offering nearly identical experiences without the risks associated with a “bad trip.” In a world that has drifted from such natural practices, Holzner believes breathwork helps people rediscover breath’s ancient significance: spirare, the Latin root of spirituality and inspiration, shows just how fundamentally intertwined breath is with human experience.
Transformative Leadership in Breathwork
The approach to leadership at Beamdream Breathworks is guided by the principles of humanity, honesty, and authenticity. “Each of us is both a teacher and a student for life,” she reflects a philosophy that shapes her relationships with clients and students alike. She is committed to working on an equal footing with everyone, intentionally avoiding any “gurufication” of her role. At Beamdream Breathworks, competition is replaced by collaboration, with a mission to train and support breathwork practitioners who share the vision of making the world a kinder, more mindful place through breathwork.
Holzner is particularly proud of her teacher training graduates who, with her support, have created unique breathwork practices, expanding the reach and diversity of the field. Her clients often enter Beamdream sessions seeking change that aligns with their deepest values. One former client, for example, struggled with the fear of motherhood, but after a powerful Beambreath® session, she found the courage to embrace it. Today, she is a joyful mother. Such transformations underscore Holzner’s mission, highlighting breathwork’s potential to catalyse profound change.
Envisioning the Future of Breathwork
As Corrina Holzner reflects on her journey with Beamdream Breathworks, she acknowledges the ambition driving her vision: “This endeavour would become bigger than anything I had created before.” Launched in 2020, Beamdream Breathworks is her life’s work, and she is eager to expand further. In early 2025, she plans to introduce the Beamdream Academy, which will elevate the training of breathwork instructors to a new level. This academy will feature self-developed techniques like Beambreath® and Vision Breathing®, alongside training in Coherent Breathing and athletic performance enhancement. An exclusive mentoring program will also support certified instructors in advancing their businesses, sharing Holzner’s extensive knowledge and experience.
Holzner believes breathwork will soon become as commonplace as yoga, benefiting everyone from business professionals to stay-at-home parents. This practice will contribute to a healthier, more liberated society, as individuals prioritise well-being over outdated work ethics. The generational shift in values is already evident, signaling that breathwork will become a vital tool in psychotherapy and medicine. Holzner is anticipating the positive impact breathwork will have on mental and emotional well-being in the years to come.
